COMMENTARY

NO HITTER!  Junior Guerra of the Brewers threw threw his gem against the Reds on 4/17/2018…struck out 15 in the process…Lorenzo Cain’s error was the only thing between him and a perfect game…he himself saved a hit with a great defensive play to preserve the no-hitter…You know what’s more rare than an a no-hitter?  HITTING FOR THE CYCLE: which Javier Baez of the Cubs did against COL on 4/21/2018…took him 6 AB to do it…he added 4 RBI for good measure…It just wasn’t going to get better than ending a week on Jackie Robinson day…but that was last week…I should have found a way to indicate that every player on every digital team was wearing 42…Atlanta has held it’s lead in the AL East, but the Royals — under the management of Judd Choate — have climbed to first in the WOR at +6…he’s shaking off the rust of his 12-year hiatus rather well…St. Louis leads the NL central and is +2.5 WOR…Dbacks lead the west but San Diego has the best WOR in the division…it is almost statistically impossible for any team to match the actual Bosox start, but Tony Bernacchi faces the added pressure of New York and Baltimore posting postive-WOR figures…but you can’t do better than first place, which he’s doing…Oakland is out-performing the actual club in the AL West…Greg Achten’s Angels are a half-game closer to the Astros than are Arte Moreno’s…there are eight trades in the league so far and Hugh Brown of the Rockies has been involved in half of them…Three NL teams are playing better than .700…nobody in the AL is…Drew Ferguson of the Astros leads the ASFBL in grounding into double plays with 6…much of the credit for that surely goes to Jose Altuve…harder to hit into a double play if nobody is on base…Carlos Gomez of the Rays leads the league by having struck out 40 times…that will probably improve when his average climbs above it’s current .149…JD Martinez of the Bosox has whiffed 33 times but his hitting .292 wiht 7 HR…it is no surprise to see Mike Trout tied for the league lead with 21 runs scored…it’s a little more unusual that he’s tied with Joe Mauer of the Twins…Guerra’s totals on the week included 18 shutout innings …only allowed 4 hits…logged 30 strikeouts…Ryu of the Dodgers struck out 27 in only 14 and 2/3rds…

TECHNICAL UPDATE

Still items to add on the features list, like games back and weekly records on the standings and a few other things…one owner still had an issue with lineups; when in doubt do the adding and dropping first and the sorting second; if you hit real snags do the add and drop, exit the lineups page and return, and then do sorting…my apologies for the headaches; I do hope the website conversion will prove to be worth it…already seem to have eliminated those site-wide hangups we were having with the old system.
