TECH NOTES: I’m still seeing that “database in use” error and continue to work on a solution, however, I’m mostly able to close the page I’m on and log in again and things work out. I know it’s annoying, but that should be a reasonable workaround if you get stuck.
NO HITTER!!! Drew Smyly of the Rays threw a no-hitter against Boston on 4/19/2016, striking out 11 in the process. It is not entirely surprising, since his actual WHIP (.73) is awfully similar to Jake Arrieta (.73), who of course had an actual no-hitter. Please refrain from allegations that the digital Smyly is using PEDs….
COMMENTARY: Holy Eric Forslund! In his second week in the league he rolled a 6-1 record with the Chisox and seems to have the ship moving in the right direction….and we could officially name this Tim Walsh Week since he was tied for the best record on the week, has the Twins in first place, has the best record in the AL, and is in first place in wins-over-reality…Philly posted the best record in the NL east; the Nats are mimicking the success of the actual team…hard to improve on a 14-4 start, but Andy has his club .5 ahead of the actual crew…and, incidentally, the best record in the ASFBL…Rick Wynne has the Cubs atop the NL central, keeping pace with the real Chicagoans…Arizona raced to a 6-1 record (congrats to newcomer Mike Milos), best in the NL this week, and put some heat on the Dodgers…Padres still hold the best WOR in that division…Baltimore and Tampa are tied in the AL east, and Jaime Richardson has the Rays +2.5 to make them competitive…Tony Bernacchi’s Bosox had the best record in the division to bounce back from a slow start…The AL west is the tightest division, with only 3 games separating first from last…and no team is worse than a half game behind reality…Symonds’ Mariners gained the most this week…Goldschmidt had 5 homers and 16 RBI on the week…the Mets’ won Asdrubal Cabrera hit over .500…Drew Smyly of the Rays tossed 18 scoreless innings…Darren O’Day of the Orioles struck out 17…in 7 and 2/3rds innings…Eduardo Nunez of the Twins stole 4 bases on the week…Arizona had 3 players hit .400 and better…and none of them was Goldschmidt….
