Newsletter for games through 4/21/2013

COMMENTS: With digital bunting hanging from every ASFBL stadium to commemorate opening day, the 15-team league era began….The Cubs and Padres parlayed their actual teams’ real-life starts into +4 WOR figures…the Mariners did the same and are only 1.5 out…most impressive, however, are Mark Chen’s Orioles, who’s +4 WOR put them in first place in the AL east…Miami was 7-12, but that’s 3 games better than the actual club managed….Steve Skrovan’s Cleveland club holds the lead in the AL central….It’s an anyone-can-win it division, but that’s the place you want to start…Scott Treffer’s first foray into the AL went well, and his Rangers sit on top of the AL West….The fantasy Yankees have 34 HR, most in the ASFBL…Tim Matsuoka’s Rockies are hitting .281 to lead the League, and also have a lead-leaguing 17 stolen bases…Boston pitchers lead the ASFBL with 203 strikeouts…the Ungodly Stat of the week: Rick Wynne’s Braves have a team ERA of 1.84….that’s not a typo…only 4 pitchers are doing better than their real numbers, and the only one of those with significant innings is Roy Halladay…

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Minor leaguers are subject to AB and IP caps, so their figures may be lower than they are in real-life; there is also a 17% performance downgrade to adjust for the level of competition….details are in the league rules. ¬†Waivers have been reset, so any player you move off of your active roster now must be protected with a free wavier or is subject to waivers…everyone starts the year with 2 free waivers.

Thanks to everyone for a mostly seamless start to the season!  Enjoy the first round of stats!
